Until Saturday 9 May – The original medieval manuscript of Sumer is icumen in, also known as the famed Reading Rota has returned to Reading for the first time since the dissolution of Reading Abbey in 1539. It is on loan from the British Library to Reading Museum. It is believed to be the earliest known English song with surviving music. Saturday 9 – Sunday 17 May – Reading Walks Festival 2026 – 43 guided walks led by local experts, exploring Reading’s history and natural heritage, with over a quarter celebrating Reading’s great waterways to tie in with the 30th anniversary of the Thames Path National Trail.
