Saturday 7 December – Christmas Concert by Candlelight in Caversham – 19:30 at St Andrew’s Church in Albert Road Tickets cost £18 (ages 16-24); £24 (ages 25-59), and £22 (ages 60+). Under 16s free. The CinC Ensemble directed by the RPO’s co-principal, Tamas Andras, with baritone, Sam Pantcheff, and soprano, Susannah Fairburn, performing music by Bach, Handel, and Rutter. The programme will also include Gabriel’s Oboe by Morricone. As usual, there will also be audience carols, as well as mulled wine and mince pies.

Sunday 8 December – Glass Ensemble presents its annual Christmas concert – 16:00 at Caversham Heights Methodist Church, Highmore Road RG4 8BG. Featuring Malcolm Archer’s “Nowell! Nowell!”, a dynamic carol Nochant and charming folk melodies with a fresh, modern feel, alongside a selection of seasonal music by Rutter and Palestrina, with a sprinkling of well-loved traditional Christmas carols.

Thursday 12 December – Christmas Cheer – favourite festive carols, hymns and Messiah choruses followed by wassail and mince pies – 19:00. St William of York RC Church, Upper Redlands Road, Reading RG1 5JP. Reading Haydn Choir. Tickets £5 on the door, children free. Retiring collection in aid of Launchpad.

Monday 16 December – Carol Evening in Caversham Court Gardens – 19:30 The Friends of Caversham Court Gardens. The choir of St Peter’s church will lead the singing of traditional Christmas carols and the Salvation Army Band will complement the festive music.
The floodlit gardens will be open from 18:15 and mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies will be on sale from the Tea Kiosk charities. Card payments will be accepted. The church bells will ring at 19:15.
Wrap up warm and bring a torch to read the carol sheets.
Free entry, but please bring cash for the collection.

Tuesday 17 December – Sing Carols with the Reading Bach Choir – 19:30. St Andrew’s Church, Albert Road. Led by conductor Daniel Mahoney and accompanist Nicholas Shaw. A festive evening of seasonal music, carols and homemade treats.
